Pupil buying cotton candy hit by a car

COTABATO CITY - Two Grade 1 students were seriously injured in separate road accidents in Makilala and Kidapawan City in North Cotabato on Tuesday, police said.

Makilala police said six-year-old Gio Lambak Flores, a Grade 1 pupil in Malasila Central Elementary School, was buying cotton candy in front of the school when he was accidentally hit by a car at around 11 a.m.

The driver of the car, Fretchie Joy Espina, rushed the boy to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The boy sustained head injuries in the incident. He is still being monitored in the hospital's intensive care unit (ICU).

Meanwhile, Anjo Vergara, also a six-year-old boy and a Grade 1 student in Manongol Central Elementary School, was hit by a motorcycle at around 4 p.m.

Kidapawan police said Vergara was a victim of hit-and-run.

An investigation is still ongoing to identify the driver of the motorcycle that hit the kid.
