MANILA, Philippines - A 16-year-old boy was hacked to death for stealing marang fruit at a plantation in Kabayan relocation, Bunawan, Davao City.

Police said plantation caretaker Moises Baste caught victim Alfeo del Castillo climbing a marang tree at the plantation past 2 p.m. Monday. Baste flew into a rage and killed the 16-year-old by hacking him to death.

Baste surrendered to police after the killing. He said he had warned del Castillo to stop stealing fruit from the plantation numerous times but was always being ignored.
