MANILA, Philippines – A 2-year-old boy was killed after he was accidentally hit by a dump truck owned by the local government of Cotabato on Tuesday morning.

The boy was declared dead on arrival at a hospital.

Dump truck driver Alfredo Llanura of the General Services Office of the City Government of Cotabato said he did not notice the boy crossing the road.

Reports said the accident happened past 7 in the morning on Tuesday while the boy was on his way home after buying food at a nearby store.

Llanura immediately reported the accident to the nearest police station.

The victim’s family will not file a case against the driver.

The Cotabato City government was asked to extend assistance and shoulder the boy’s funeral expenses. -- With reports from Archad Ayao, ABS-CBN Central Mindanao
