MANILA, Philippines – Police arrested a 44-year-old woman in a northern Philippine province for practicing dentistry without the proper license.

Authorities arrested Majiela Lucena, 44, at Barangay Caunayan in Batac City, Ilocos Norte.
 
Lucena was making dentures when nabbed by police.

The suspect admitted not having a license, but said she finished dentistry in school.

She claimed she only accepts fees from friends for tooth extractions and making them dentures.

Lucena has been providing dental services in the city for nearly 8 years.

The Philippine Dental Association (PDA)-Ilocos Norte Chapter maintained that the suspect’s activity was illegal.

The PDA has filed a case against the suspect to serve as a lesson to others who are also engaged in the same illegal practice.
