Anti-narcotics agents arrested eight suspected drug pushers in a raid conducted Wednesday along a street in Obando, Bulacan, called "Kalye Banat."
Chief Inspector Valentino Lopez of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) named two of the suspects as Reynato de la Cruz and Romeo Siochi. Seized from the eight suspects were four plastic sachets of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu worth P75,000 each.
Lopez said the raid was conducted in an alley in Barangay Panghulo, Obanto town called "Kalye Banat." Banat, which means use or consume, is a lingo used by drug addicts and drug peddlers.
The police officer said before the raid, undercover agents took footage of how shabu is being peddled in Barangay Panghulo. He said drug pushers openly sell shabu to customers in the area.
Lopez said Kalye Banat is the biggest shabu den in the province of Bulacan. He said the drug operation in the infamous street reaches Sta. Maria, Bocaue, and Meycauayan towns.
The suspected pushers have been brought to PDEA's headquarters in Quezon City for detention.
