4 alleged NPA rebels killed in Agusan del Sur clash
LORETO, AGUSAN DEL SUR- 4 alleged New People's Army rebels were killed in an encounter in Loreto town in Agusan del Sur Sunday dawn, said the military.
Maj. Michelle Anayron, Army’s 4th Infantry Division spokesperson, told ABS-CBN News that around 2 a.m. while troops of 402nd Brigade were conducting a combat patrol they encountered an NPA group.
A firefight reportedly ensued against the 26 rebels in Sition Cabuga in Barangay Santa Teresa. The firefight reportedly lasted for ten minutes.
Four hours later however, the NPA rebels reportedly returned to get firearms that were left behind during the initial encounter.
Since the troops are still in the area another firefight occurred, this time 4 alleged members of the NPA were reportedly killed.
13 firearms were reported recovered by the Army soldiers - 9 M16 automatic rifles, 1 shotgun, 1 Garand rifle, 1 .357 revolver pistol and alleged personal belongings of the rebels as well as subversive documents.
