MANILA, Philippines - One of the alleged kidnappers of a local trader in Marawi City, Lanao del Sur died in an encounter with the police on Saturday.

Superintendent Cosanie Dirogongan of the Lanao del Sur police said Khalid Saripada Pansar died during an encounter at around 4:16 p.m. on September 4. The incident happened at Barangay Lumbac in Pualas.

Ustadj Andalawan Hadji Salic, a 25-year-old farmer, was on his way home when he was shot by Pansar’s group.

Police immediately responded, leading to an encounter with the armed group.

Pansar’s group supposedly abducted businessman Abdulcarim Magarang last August 31 while on board a pedicab on Ampuan Street, Barangay Lilod Madaya.
