Cooler days ahead, Pagasa says
MANILA, Philippines - Filipinos will experience cool weather during the so-called “ber” months despite the developing El Niño phenomenon, government climatologists said Friday.
Esperanza Cayanan, chief of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration’s (PAGASA) climatology division, said the temperature will be “slightly warmer” but the cold weather will still be felt.
“We still have the cold northeast wind from November to February,” Cayanan told The STAR in a text message.
“The usual notable impact of El Niño is less rainfall than the normal,” she said.
El Niño refers to the abnormal warming in the equatorial Pacific and is usually characterized by below normal rainfall.
PAGASA climatologists said the El Niño condition has already been felt in some parts of the Visayas.
