MANILA, Philippines – A 19-year-old babysitter was arrested for abducting her three-year old ward in Iloilo City.

Suspect Luna Domingo of Barangay Capayu-an in Barbaza, Antique is detained at the Leganes Police Station.

The mother of the child alleged that Domingo left their home Friday afternoon with her daughter. She added that nobody was home when the yaya left with her child.

The mother, who works as a teacher in a private school in the city, immediately sought help from police. Luckily, Domingo was spotted on a passenger jeepney in Jaro.

Domingo initially said she was on her way to the school where her employer works to leave the child because she wants to go home to Antique.

However, she later admitted that a textmate named “James” ordered her to bring the child to his home in Janiuay in Iloilo. She said she and James met several times since they first met in October of 2011.

Authorities are trying to locate Domingo’s alleged textmate. They are establishing if the textmate and Domingo are members of an organized group engaged in abducting children.
