Iran wants more money for bus tragedy victims
BALAMBAN, Philippines – Iran is asking a Philippine bus company to give more money to the families of 20 Iranians who were killed in an accident in Balamban, Cebu, on June 13.
The P60,000 in damages given to each of the victims' kin is too small compared to the US $60,000 in reparation for accident victims in Iran, officials from the Islamic republic told lawyer Rory Jon Sepulveda, a Cebu provincial government consultant.
Sepulveda accompanied on Thursday Iranian foreign affairs and transport officials led by Ali Razagh Manesh in inspecting the ravine where the vehicle fell.
Cebu police officers Senior Inspector Ruben Cuizon and Chief Inspector Junuario Sario joined the group in the ocular inspection.
At least 50 people were on board the bus en route to a picnic when the vehicle fell into a 30-meter ravine. Twenty-one people, including the driver, were killed while 29 others were injured.
Most of the passengers were Iranian medical students from Cebu Doctors University, University of Visayas, and University of San Carlos, all in Cebu. – with a report from Junrey Nadela, ABS-CBN Central Visayas

Re: Iran wants more money for bus tragedy victims
Akala siguro nitong Iran ay pareho ang economic status ng US at ng Pilipinas.
Insurance for Foreigners. Hahaha.
From now on, the Philippine government should charge life insurance from foreigners visiting, studying, or doing business in the Philippines. US$5 for each day of temporary visit or US$15 for each month of residing in the Philippines.
That should not be too much for each individual but once the government has collected enough, then it can take care of claims for an incident like this or the bus hostage incident that happens rarely.
