Grenade blast hits Cavite councilor's home
MANILA, Philippines – A grenade blast hit the house of a councilor in Cavite City, Cavite on Tuesday evening.
Councilor Oscar Sabater said the blast occurred at his house along Miranda Street in Barangay 14 at around 10 p.m.
Portions of Sabater's garden and garage were damaged due to the explosion. His pick-up truck's windows were also shattered.
Sabater, also the president of Association of Barangay Captains in the city, suspects that politics was behind the explosion, claiming that he had received numerous death threats.
He noted that he recently filed corruption charges against Cavite City Mayor Romeo Ramos and seven other councilors.
Bomb experts conducted an ocular inspection at the blast site on Tuesday evening, and said they will conduct a post-blast investigation today. – report from Jerome Lantin, ABS-CBN News
