Libyan IMT members hoist rebel flag in Mindanao
COTABATO CITY, Philippines - Libyan members of the International Monitoring Team (IMT) overseeing the peace process in Mindanao have hoisted the new flag being used by the Libyan transition government.
The Libyan 3-men contingent in Mindanao is based in Iligan City.
In a press conference held Thursday afternoon at the IMT headquarters in Cotabato City, General Guima Maraash announced that they are now supporting the new leadership of the Libyan transition government.
They will also continue supporting peace negotiations between the Philippine government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).
The Malaysian-led IMT is a mechanism that monitors the ceasefire between the government and the MILF.
The IMT also has security, civilian protection, socio-economic, human rehabilitation, and development components.
The IMT, headed by Major General Datu Mahdi Bin Yusof, is composed of Malaysia, Brunei, Japan, Libya, Norway, and the European Union.
