Four NGO workers abducted in Basilan
Four employees from two non-government organizations were kidnapped by 10 suspected members of a rogue command of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front in Tipo-tipo, Basilan, Monday morning, police said.
Superintendent Danilo Bacas of the regional police office said the victims work for the Nagdilaab Foundation, Inc. and the Christian Children's Fund.
The victims were identified as Ludy Borja, Esperancita Hupida, Millet Mendoza and Dionisio Estandarte, the group's driver.
Bacas said that the abduction took place in Barangay Cabangalan while the victims were on their vehicle bound for Isabela City at 11:45 a.m.
Two of the victims' companions managed to escape. They were named as Romeo delos Reyes and Sahida Alasa. They are now with the Philippine Marines in Lamitan City.
