Rains expected as 'Karen' exits PAR
MANILA, Philippines – More rains are expected across the country as typhoon “Karen” (international name: Sanba) continues to move towards southern Japan.
The typhoon is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) either Saturday night or early Sunday.
However, weather bureau PAGASA said it will continue to enhance the southwest monsoon or “habagat”, which will bring occasional moderate to heavy rains over central Luzon, Metro Manila, Bicol region, CALABARZON, and MIMAROPA.
Cloudy skies are expected over Visayas and Mindanao with scattered rainshowers.
In its weather bulletin Saturday morning, PAGASA said the typhoon was last spotted 660 kilometers east of Itbayat, Batanes.
It was carrying winds of 185 kilometers per hour (kph) with gustiness of up to 220 kph.
The typhoon was seen moving north northwest at a speed of 15 kph.
By Sunday morning, the typhoon is expected to be 70 kilometers south of Okinawa, Japan.
