Soldier killed in clearing ops in Zambo City
MANILA – Another soldier was killed in a gunbattle between government troops and the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) fighters in Zamboanga City.
This was confirmed by Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Spokesman Lt. Col. Ramon Zagala on Thursday morning.
Zagala, however, declined to give additional information about the soldier.
Authorities in Zamboanga City said the operation against the MNLF at Barangays Sta. Catalina and Sta. Barbara have entered a delicate stage as government troops are now making a house-to-house clearing operations.
Authorities believe there are around 50 to 60 MNLF who are still hiding in the said barangays. – report from Edwin Sevidal, dzMM
