MANILA, Philippines – A magnitude 5.5 earthquake struck off Davao Oriental on Friday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

Phivolcs said the earthquake occurred at 05:21 a.m. Its epicenter was located 138 kilometers southeast of Mati.

The following intensities were felt:

• Intensity IV - Mati City
• Intensity III - Davao City

The earthquake was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 90 kms.

Phivolcs said aftershocks are expected from the earthquake. No damage was reported, as of posting.
