3 killed as bus explodes in Zamboanga
MANILA (2nd UPDATE) – Three people were killed in a bus explosion in Brgy. Labuan, Zamboanga City on Friday, police said.
The explosion occurred at the Biel Transit Bus storage at around 5:55 p.m. as the bus pulled in from Zamboanga City proper.
A bus conductor, Meliton Orquijo, and two employees of the terminal were killed. The two employees were identified as Hudson Guinilac and Allison Saavedra.
The driver of the bus, Bello Domingo, was injured and had to be rushed to a hospital.
Police have yet to determine the type of explosive used.
Meanwhile, a suspected improvised explosive device was seen in an open lot in Evangelista St. near the Zamboanga City Medical Center.
ABS-CBN correspondent Noli de Castro and his crew were in the area where the suspected bomb was found.
“Napansin ko ‘yung apat na bote na mas malaki sa long neck, may mitsa, at naka-bundle siya na parang pinag-isa,” de Castro told dzMM.
