Cagayan, Apayao and Ilocos Norte are under signal number 2.
The following areas are under signal number 1:
- Northern Aurora
- Nueva Vizcaya
- La Union
- Ilocos Sur
- Mt. Province
Stormy weather should be expected in Northern Luzon as the typhoon continued to move west northwest.
As of 4 p.m. Friday, PAGASA said the typhoon was spotted 220 kilometers east of Basco, Batanes.
It was seen carrying maximum winds of 205 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 240 kph.
PAGASA said the typhoon may make landfall or pass very close to the Batanes group of islands Saturday morning.
The typhoon was expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Saturday night.
Weather conditions were expected to improve in the extreme Northern Luzon by then, but PAGASA said the western part of the country, including Metro Manila, will continue experience rains due to the typhoon’s effect on the southwest monsoon (habagat).
