The Philippine Coast Guard on Sunday barred all sea vessels from sailing to areas affected by Typhoon “Nina” (international codename Hagupit).

Coast Guard Commandant Vice Admiral Wilfredo Tamayo said all sea vessels going to storm-hit areas will not be allowed to sail.

He said the order applies even to those sea vessels whose point-of-origin is spared from the storm.

In Romblon province, meanwhile, reports said two bridges in San Fernando collapsed due to Nina.

As of 10 a.m., weather forecaster Chris Perez said the center of the typhoon was spotted about 400 kilometers northeast of Virac, Catanduanes, still packing maximum winds of 120 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of about 150 kph.

The typhoon is expected to move west northwest at 19 kph.

Public Storm Warning Signal No. 2 has been hoisted over Catanduanes, which is expected to have stormy weather, with rough to very rough seas, Perez added.

Signal No. 1, meanwhile, has been raised over  Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora, Northern Quezon, including Polilio Island,  Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, and Albay.

Typhoon Nina will continue to enhance southwest monsoon and bring rains over Southern Luzon and the Visayas, particularly over the western section, Perez said.  With dzMM
