ARMM voters’ registration starts October 12
MANILA - The Commission on Elections on Monday said the registration of voters in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) will resume on October 12, 2009 until October 31, 2009.
Comelec Resolution 8672, which was promulgated by the Commission en banc last September 19, states that any Filipino citizen residing in the provinces of Basilan (except Isabela City), Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, (Shariff Kabunsuan), Maguindanao (except Cotabato City) and Lanao del Sur, may register as voters in the region.
Registrants should be at least 18 years of age on or before May 10, 2010 and a resident of the Philippines for at least one year and in the place where he intends to vote, for at least six months immediately preceeding the May 10, 2010 elections, the resolution added.
“Applications for registration, transfer of registration records, change/correction of entries in the registration records, reactivation of registration records and inclusion of registration records/reinstatement of name in the list of voters, shall be personally filed beginning October 12, 2009 to October 31, 2009 at the Office of the Election Officer (OEO) of the City/Municipality where the applicant resides, from Monday to Friday including Saturdays and Holidays falling on weekdays during regular office hours at 8:00 o’clock A.M. to 5:00 o’clock P.M.” the Comelec said.
The Comelec added that applicants shall only be required to present any valid ID such as employees ID, postal ID, student’s ID or library card, Senior Citizen’s ID, drivers license, NBI/PNP clearance, among others, when they register. Community Tax Certificates (cedula) or certifications/identification cards issued by Barangay officials shall not be honored as identification documents.
Titles such as DATU, SULTAN, HADJI, BAI and other titles shall not be allowed in the accomplished forms of applicants, the Comelec said.
