Elderly couple escapes from MNLF captors
MANILA – An elderly couple held hostage by fighters of the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) was able to escape from their captors on Tuesday.
Lucita West, 67, and her husband Bong, 75, managed to escape after 16 days in captivity.
West reportedly had a chance to escape earlier, but did not want to leave her ailing husband.
The two are now in a private hospital to receive treatment and undergo stress debriefing.
At least 18 hostages are still in the custody of the MNLF, led by allegedly led by Habier Malik. -- Report from Jewel Reyes, ABS-CBN News Zamboanga
