Fresh BIFF attack launched in Cotabato
COTABATO CITY - After the firefight incident in several barangays in Midsayap, North Cotabato on Monday, suspected members of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) staged another attack in the province on Tuesday.
Authorities said about 80 armed men entered the town of Tulunan at around 7 a.m. today and harassed the security guards of Del Monte Fruits and members of a civilian volunteer organization in Barangay Dungos.
The firefight was still on going, as of posting time.
Authorities believe that the BIFF is behind the attack. The same group launched an attack in Midsayap on Monday where at least 14 were held hostage and several guerrillas and soldiers were killed.
As of Tuesday, all 14 hostages have been released, according to Interior Secretary Manuel "Mar" Roxas II.
