Rescuers on Thursday retrieved the bodies of two of the 14 trapped miners in Itogon town in Benguet province.

Rescuers said the two already bloated bodies were taken 700 meters below an abandoned gold mine in Itogon town around 2:30 pm.

Authorities have yet to determine the identities of the two dead miners.

The 14 miners trapped in the Itogon gold mine have been identified as Gilbert Nattem Banaue, Garry Ganu, Rudy Boling Jr., Joel Bulga Aglipay, Jeyson Himmayod, Rudy Himmayod, Jojo Himmayod, Juan Himmayod,  Marvin Himmayod, Vincent Himmayod, Joseph Anayasan, Mario Annayasan, Gerry Monyobda, and Robert Buway.

Mud washed down by typhoon-induced rain blocked the entrance of the tunnel, preventing rescuers from reaching the miners, authorities said. Rescuers pumped water out of the tunnel so the mud can be cleared out.

The landslide occurred at the height of Typhoon Nina (international codename Hagupit). Several landslides in Itogon town took place due to the typhoon's heavy rains.
