2 killed as 3 motorcycles collide in Batangas
BATANGAS CITY, Philippines – Two people died while four others were injured in a multiple motorcycle collision in Balayan town Saturday evening, police said.
Superintendent Arcadio Ronquillo, Batangas Police Information Officer, identified the fatalities as Mario Segunial, 39, of Barangay Quisumbing, Calaca town, and Nonato Caisip, 48, of Barangay Biliran, Nasugbu. Both towns are in Batangas.
Injured were Caisip’s riders Ema Ruth Plaza and Joy Plaza-Ramos; Jose De Padua, 41, a barangay councilor, and his wife, teacher Nemia De Padua of Barangay Caloocan, Balayan, Batangas.
According to a police report, Segunial was traveling along the national highway in Barangay Caloocan when he overtook a vehicle in front and collided with the on-coming motorcycle at the opposite lane driven by Caisip at around 8:15 pm.
Due to the strong impact, Segunial’s motorcycle hit De Padua’s motorcycle, which was then following Caisip’s motorcycle.
Segunial and Caisip died on the spot while the injured victims were rushed to Madonna General Hospital for treatment.
Police have yet to file charges against the driver responsible for the accident.
