The Bureau of Food and Drugs in Negros Occidental has advised consumers to watch out for misleading labels in some milk and dairy products in the market.

Maricon Dimatulac, BFAD regulation officer, said there are several brands registered with the bureau that do not indicate where the products are manufactured.

Instead, these the labels only indicate the products' importer or distributor.

Dimatulac said the BFAD is testing these products for possible melamine contamination. She did not elaborate.

The agency advised consumers to read and check the labels of milk and dairy products bought in supermarkets and grocery stores to make sure that these are not packed or manufactured in China.
