Magnitude 3.6 quake hits Negros Oriental
MANILA – A magnitude 3.6 earthquake hit Negros Oriental on Thursday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
Phivolcs said the earthquake was recorded at 5:58 a.m. Its epicenter was located 18 kilometers southeast of Santa Catalina town.
The earthquake was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 1 km.
Intensity 4 was felt in Valencia, Negros Oriental; Intensity 3 in Dumaguete City; and Intensity 2 in Sibulan, Negros Oriental.
Phivolcs said aftershocks and damage are not expected from the earthquake.
