Suspects in slay of Pacquiao bodyguard surrender
MANILA - The suspects behind the killing of a police escort of Sarangani Rep. Manny Pacquiao have already surrendered to police authorities in General Santos City on Wednesday.
Suspects Ern Guindolman, a former barangay chief, and Rowena Cabaniog were both crying when they faced the media.
Guindolman is the live-in partner of Cabaniog, who admitted to be the former lover of the victim, SPO3 Rey Edradan, who was pronounced dead on arrival in the hospital Sunday night after being stabbed 12 times.
Police investigation revealed that the murder happened in Cabaniog’s house in Doña Soledad Subdivision.
However, Cabaniog insisted, “Hindi po namin sinasadya ang nangyari. Hindi po kami kriminal.”
Guindolman said, “Humihingi po kami ng tawad sa pamilya ni Edradan.”
Insp. Lorenzo Henares III said homicide charges are now being filed against the two suspects.
Meanwhile, Pacquiao has promised to help the family of his police bodyguard.
The victim’s family declined to comment and just prayed for justice over Edradan’s death.
