'Santi' set to hit Luzon; 4 areas under signal no. 2

MANILA, Philippines - Tropical Storm Santi gained strength Thursday, with 4 areas placed under public storm warning signal number 2, weather bureau PAGASA said.
The storm continues to move west and is expected to make landfall somewhere in the Aurora-Isabela area early Saturday morning.
Isabela, Aurora, and northern Quezon, including the Polilio Islands are now under storm signal number 2.
The areas will experience winds of between 61 to 100 kilometers per hour in at least 24 hours.

The storm was last spotted 410 kilometers east of Baler, Aurora as of 10 p.m. Thursday.
It is packing maximum sustained winds of 105 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 135 kph.
The storm is expected to be at 80 km east of Baler, Aurora by Friday night and 200 km west of Dagupan City by Saturday night.
It is brining estimated rainfall from 5mm to 20mm per hour (moderate to intense) within its 500 km diameter.
"Residents in low lying and mountainous areas under signal number 1 and 2 are alerted against possible flashfloods and landslides. Likewise, those living in coastal areas under signal number 2 are alerted against storm surges," PAGASA warned.
It also said sea travel is risky in the eastern seaboard of northern Luzon and of Visayas.
