Two of the fatalities were identified as Andi Salangao and a certain alias Nords, while two of the injured victims were identified as Kinao Pasawilan and Dagadas Salangao.
The victims, on board a multicab, were supposed to leave Talitay to evacuate. But upon reaching Adaon bridge, the boundary of Datu Anggal Midtimbang and Talitay town, they were ambushed by armed men.
As of posting, firefight is still ongoing in Talitay. Hundreds of civilians are trapped in Madrasas and Mosques in the area.
Commission on Elections (Comelec) personnel who tried to go there for the first day of the filing of certificates of candidacy (COCs) were not permitted to enter the town.
"Ito na nga eh, kanina pa kami dito pero hindi kami pinayagan ng mga sundalo na pumasok, hindi daw talaga safe. Kailangan ko na lang gumawa ng report sa central office kung anong pwedeng gawin dito," said Talitay election officer Mary Ann Mangudadatu.
Soldiers from the 68th Infantry Battalion are now blocking the area in Datu Anggal to secure the civilians.
The firefight started on Thursday after three relatives of Talitay Mayor Muntasir Sabal were killed. Two others were wounded.
Police said this is a "rido" or clan war between the Sabal and Buisan families, both affiliated with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).
The occurring firefight is between the 105th and 106th base command of MILF.
