Uprooted trees block roads in Santi-hit Aurora
MANILA – The town of Baler in Aurora was hit by very strong winds as typhoon "Santi" made landfall over the province late Friday night.
Big centuries-old trees were uprooted and are now blocking some of the roads in the towns. The major one in the Bongabong-Baler road which links Aurora to Nueva Ecija is currently not passable.
The roofs of several structures were also peeled off and galvanized iron sheets littered on the road.
According to the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office, some 600 families or over 2,500 individuals are now in different evacuation centers all over the province.
The towns of Baler, Dingalan and Maria Aurora were the worst hit. These communities were nearest to the eye of the typhoon when it made landfall.
The whole province is still without power but cellular communication remains open in populated areas.
So far, there are no reports of casualties or injuries according to the PDRRMO. Reports from other areas in Aurora are still coming in.
