Benguet, Pangasinan brace for 'Ramil'
MANILA - Benguet, one of the provinces most affected by typhoon Pepeng, has begun preparations for possible floods and landslides due to typhoon Ramil.
Speaking to ANC on Saturday, Benguet Governor Nestor Fongwan said the mayors of Benguet have already warned residents to flee areas prone to floods and landslides.
Fongwan added that police troops are going house-to-house in areas hit by Pepeng asking residents to evacuate.
Fongwan appealed for rubber boats in case of flooding in the municipality of La Trinidad.
Fongwan said they are airlifting food to isolated areas through Philippine Army choppers, which have been in the province of Benguet since 4 days ago.
He said he was glad the main road going towards the northern part of Benguet, where the vegetables come from, was already opened Friday night.
Pre-emptive evacuation in Pangasinan
Meanwhile, the provincial government of Pangasinan said their protocol for pre-emptive evacuation is being followed smoothly as they brace for rains that may be brought by tyhoon Ramil.
Pangasinan Governor Amado Espina said the evacuation centers are ready to welcome displaced residents should waters in flooded areas start to rise.
Espino added they are actively monitoring the level of major rivers as they remain worried over the damaged dikes in the province.
"Meron kami rito mga evacuation centers na nakahanda, pero ang ginagawa rito inoobserbahan ang releases ng San Roque [dam] ulit at ang ulan kasi dito punung-puno ang major rivers namin ng tubig at sira ang mga dike," Espino said.
Espino also appealed for a helicopter carrier they can use for rescue operations. -- report from ANC

PAGASA is WRONG
Personally I'm just a bit puzzled why PAGASA once again fail to deliver another forecast which is catasthrophic by nature. This link http://www.goes.noaa.gov/sohemi/sohemiloops/vsmtsatw.html from MTSAT Guam shows that the typhoon is heading NORTHEAST not NORTHWEST. Wrong information means bad gadget. Although its good to be prepare. For now, most dam will be drained and empty, which will result to BROWNOUT, water shortage. Hehehe
