'Nina' weakens further, out of PAR by Thursday

MANILA, Philippines – Tropical storm "Nina" has weakened further and is expected to leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Thursday morning, the state weather bureau said.

In its 11 a.m. bulletin, PAGASA said Nina was packing 85 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center with gustiness of up to 100 kph.

It was moving north-northeast at 7 kph. PAGASA forecaster Aldczar Aurelio told ABS-CBNnews.com that with this speed and direction, Nina will exit PAR on Thursday.

The storm was located 620 kms northeast of Itbayat, Batanes as of 10 a.m. It is expected to be 165 kms southeast of Okinawa, Japan on Thursday morning.

Estimated rainfall amount is 5 -15 millimeters per hour (moderate - heavy) within the storm's 600-km diameter.

Fishing boats and other small seacrafts are advised not to venture out into the northern seaboard of northern Luzon and the eastern seaboard of northern and central Luzon due to big waves.
