Hundreds of Calungsod devotees attend healing mass
CEBU, Philippines – Hundreds of devotees of Blessed Pedro Calungsod flocked to the Blessed Pedro Calungsod Parish Church in Cantabaco, Toledo City on Friday to attend a healing mass as part of the triduum.
Parish priest Fr. Russel Sungcad said the healing mass, which was held at 12 noon, was intended to accommodate devotees who come to his church to pray for healing.
Among those who attended the healing mass was 72-year-old Dario Manuel Cavada from Talisay City, who suffered a stroke 5 years ago and can no longer move the left side of his body.
Cavada served as a lay minister for 10 years at the Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Lotupan, Toledo City and in St. Joseph the Worker Parish in Talisay City.
During the mass, Cavada was wearing a T-shirt that says, “I love San Pedro Calungsod”.
“I prayed to Calungsod to heal me with my sickness so I can serve the church again,” he said.
Calungsod, along with six others, is set to be canonized in Rome on Sunday.
