Mangudadatu welcomes Bangsamoro deal
COTABATO CITY, Philippines – Maguindanao Governor Esmael "Toto" Mangudadatu has welcomed the Bangsomoro deal between the government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).
Mangudadatu believes that the framework agreement will open new doors not just for investment opportunities, livelihood and economic growth in Mindanao, but also in attaining peace in southern Philippines.
However, Mangudadatu said the government and the MILF should select a personality who has a "halal" (clean or lawful) mind.
"It should be a person with halal mind, walang halong personal interest, halal kasi is a way of life na dapat malinis sa lahat ng bagay pati sa pananalita at governance,” he said.
The transition commission will be composed of a 15-man team, 8 coming from the MILF and 7 will be coming from the government.
Meantime, Cotabato City councilor Froilan Melendrez passed a resolution appealing to the peace panel to include Christian and Lumad in the transition commission and not just Muslims.
"This is to make sure that every sector must be heard in order to have a fair judgment in every decision making," Melendrez said.
The resolution was unanimously approved by members of the city council.
