The group who took hostage the school head of an elementary school in Patikul town in Sulu province is reportedly demanding P2 million for the tutor’s freedom.

Senior Superintendent Bienvenido Latag, Task Force Bandit chief, said however they are still trying to validate the information.

Latag said they are also receiving various information on the group that seized Gabriel Canizares, principal of Kanague Elementary School in Patikul.

Military sources said the abductors belong to bandit group Abu Sayyaf sub-commanders Juhurin Hussin and Amlum Abdun alias Palo. Both reportedly work under Radulan Sahiron.

Canizares was on board a passenger jeepney along with other teachers when they were flagged down by a group of armed men at Kilometer 7, Barangay Tanum in Patikul town last October 19.

Authorities said they could not yet identify the exact location where Canizares is being held captive allegedly by the bandits.
