MANILA, Philippines – Residents of Ginatilan, Cebu, Blessed Pedro Calungsod's hometown, held a fluvial procession Sunday morning.

Over a dozen floats participated in the water procession to nearby towns.

The mood in Ginatilan has so far been festive with a special mass held this morning at the Saint Gregory Parish.

There is also a scheduled lunch and get together by noon.

A wide screen has been set up where the public can view the canonization later today.

Meanwhile, a mass was also held in Blessed Pedro Calungsod Parish Church in Cantabaco, Toledo City.

This was the second of the four masses that have been for the canonization of Calungsod.

Despite the scattered rainfall, devotees of Calungsod continued to pour in, with some coming from Negros Oriental and other parts of the Visayas.

The church was crowded, and some of the church-goers even brought their own chairs while others were standing outside the church with their umbrellas.

Songs used in the mass as well as the consecration were in Latin.

Mayor Espinosa of Toledo City attended the second mass.

In an interview earlier, he said that they will promote the church as part of the tourist destination in Toledo City.

More devotees are expected to arrive during the 12 noon healing mass. – with ANC, and Carine Asutilla, ABS-CBN News Central Visayas
