Gov't eyes rebuilding Bohol infra in less than a year
MANILA - The Department of Public Works and Highways said it hopes to rebuild damaged infrastructure in Bohol in less than a year.
In an interview on ANC Headstart, DPWH Secretary Rogelio Singson said the department will prioritize public facilities like hospitals, school buildings, fire stations and police stations so they will be functional in the event of another disaster.
He said proper engineering intervention is needed in areas that stand on limestones like Bohol.
He said steel bars should be used in the reconstruction of damaged structures.
"What we would do is engineering intervention. Magdagdag ka ng pader, yun tinatawag na retrofitting. So you will have nice-looking buildings rather than gibain mo at magtayo ng bago. That's the program," he said.
