1 soldier killed, 3 hurt in Zamboanga City attack
ZAMBOANGA, Philippines – A soldier was killed while 3 others were wounded when lawless elements fired on a seaborne patrol off the coast of Barangay Taluksangay, Zamboanga City Tuesday night.
Initial reports coming from Task Force Zamboanga said soldiers were on patrol when they encountered the lawless elements.
A brief firefight ensued between both camps that lasted for 15 minutes.
The soldier died while undergoing medical treatment, while 3 remain confined at the Camp Navarro General Hospital as of posting.
Task Force Zamboanga Commander Col. Buenaventura Pascual said the incident is a retaliatory attack against the task force’s members due to their arrest of a fugitive earlier this month.
