Signal 1 now up in 13 areas due to 'Vinta'
MANILA (UPDATE) – Public storm signal number 1 has been raised over 13 provinces in Luzon as tropical storm Vinta intensified and continues to move west towards the Isabela-Cagayan area.
In its 11 a.m. weather bulletin, state weather bureau PAGASA said signal number 1 is currently hoisted in the following areas:
Calayan Group of Island
Babuyan Group of Island
PAGASA said Vinta was last spotted at 700 kilometers east of Casiguran, Aurora or at 740 km east of Ilagan, Isabela.
It has maximum sustained winds of 75 km per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 90 kilometers per hour. Vinta is forecast to move west at 22 kilometers per hour.
The weather bureau expects the tropical storm to leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Friday evening.
It also urged residents living in areas with public storm warning signal to be vigilant against possible flashfloods and landslides.
