Hundreds of passengers remain stranded at the port of Batangas Friday due to the cancellation of trips going to Mindoro and Romblon.

As of 6 p.m. Friday, 800 passengers are still waiting in terminal 3, over a hundred passengers in terminal 2 and more than 100 vehicles are parked at the staging area and outside the port.

According to Assistant Port Terminal Manager Fe Faytaren, trips of roro vehicles were canceled at 3 a.m. focing passengers going to Romblon to spend the day at the terminal.  All fast craft vessels were grounded after Public Storm Warning Signal No. 2 was hoisted over the province the whole day.

“Even if it isn't raining and the sea is calm, we can't set sail because of the storm warning. That's SOP," Faytaren said.

Meanwhile 500 passengers and 50 vehicles are also stranded in Mindoro at the port of Calapan and Puerto Galera and another 300 passengers in the port of Lucena.

In PAGASA’s latest advisory, provinces in CALABARZON are now under storm signal number 3.
