MANILA -  Government rescuers have arrived in Majayjay, Laguna Monday, two days after Typhoon Santi (international codename Mirinae) destroyed a major bridge leading into the town.

Majayjay Mayor Victorino Rodillas said power supply has been restored in the town as of Monday morning. He said the local government has made a temporary bridge to allow residents of Barangay San Miguel to cross to Barangay Curalao after the Grotto Bridge was washed out during Saturday's storm.

He said the San Isidro Bridge also remained impassable due to landslide.

At least six Laguna residents were killed while close to 200,000 more were forced to stay in 100 government evacuation centers in the province in the wake of Typhoon Santi. The six fatalities were identified as Julieta Zaguirre, Margie Taino, Edcel Luvina, Elmer Dorado, Rachelle Dorado and Ody de Jesus.

The Provincial Disaster Coordinating Council said 12 out of 30 towns in Laguna are still flooded as of Monday. These are: Calamba, Los Baños, Bay, Santa Rosa, Victoria, Pila, Lumban, Mabitac, Santa Cruz, Siniloan, San Pedro and Biñan. With a report from Ryan Chua, ABS-CBN News
