3,189 aftershocks hit Visayas: Phivolcs
Magnitude 5.2 quake jolts Tagbilaran, Bohol
MANILA -- Over 3,000 aftershocks have been recorded in the Visayas over two weeks after the massive October 15 quake, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
As of 6 a.m. on Saturday, Phivolcs said it has already recorded a total of 3,189 aftershocks.
Of this, 94 have been felt. This includes a magnitude 5.2 quake on Friday evening.
Its epicenter was recorded 42 kilometers northeast of Tagbilaran City, Bohol at 9:58 p.m.
The quake struck at a depth of 20 kilometers.
The following intensities were felt:
Intensity V (strong) - Talibon, Bohol; Mandaue City; Cebu City
Intensity IV (moderately strong) - Tagbilaran City; San Isidro, Bohol
Intensity III (weak) - Dumaguete City
Intensity I (scarcely perceptible) - Hibok-hibok
According to the latest data from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), a total of 222 people were killed in the magnitude 7.2 quake that struck Bohol and nearby areas in the Visayas.
