MANILA - A 5.5-magnitude quake hit Mindanao late on Wednesday, seismologists said, but there were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.

The tremor struck the island of Mindanao at 9:48 pm (1348 GMT), at a depth of 59 kilometres (36 miles), the US Geological Survey said.

The epicentre was 37 kilometres north of the city of Butuan and 58 kilometres south of Surigao, both on Mindanao, USGS said.
