Fire razed at least 200 stalls at the Cotabato City barter center on Friday morning.
Fire investigators said the fire started from one of the stalls in the middle of the barter center around 8 a.m.
Bong Tahir, a stall owner, said he was the first person to witness the fire. He said three stalls were already gutted by the fire when the firefighters arrived at the barter center.
Chief Inspector Adam Guiamad, Cotabato City fire marshal, said the fire quickly spread around the barter center because the stalls were all made of light materials.
Guiamad added that aside from the stalls being made of light materials, they also encountered problem while putting out the fire because of unruly stall owners.
"Inaagaw nila ang [hose] natin. Inaagaw nila," the fire marshal said. With a report from Jasper Acosta, ABS-CBN Cotabato
