MANILA -- The whole of General Santos City is busy preparing for the upcoming fight of their favorite son.

Two days before the fight, residents admit they are excited about the prospect that their very own Manny Pacquiao will make boxing history by winning an unprecented seventh world title.

Hotels and restaurants in General Santos have caught the Pacquiao fever, putting up promotional tarpaulins for their own pay-per-view gimmicks.

Tickets for a live-telecast viewing at the Gensan Gym were also given away to give the public a chance to watch the fight for free.

City Media Relations officer Avel Manansala said a total of 3,000 tickets for the live viewing will be given out before the fight.

Pacquiao’s grandmother, Christina Dapidran, said she will offer a church donation to help her grandson win. "I believe that God will not abandon Manny. Manny is really good," she said.

Even Mayor Pedro Acharon said he is confident that Pacquiao can stop his Puerto Rican foe Miguel Cotto. "I don't think it will last 12 rounds," he said.

Residents of Sarangani Province, where Pacquiao is expected to run as congressman, are also excited to see the fight.

Sarangani Gov. Rene Dominguez said he has no doubt that Pacquiao can topple the bigger Cotto and win the World Boxing Organization welterweight crown.

“Definitely, Manny is winning,” he said. With a report from Jay Dayupay, ABS-CBN News SOCKSARGEN

Pilipinas stops and roars!

The Filipino people stops once Pacquiao fights in the ring. It already happened in most fights of MP & the number of people 'stopping' is getting bigger each fight.

I experienced Manny's influence during the Hatton fight. I was going to visit a sick friend and planned to ride a jeep but I couldn't find one. I ended up riding a taxi.
