PATIKUL, Sulu – Authorities recovered the body of a school principal kidnapped and beheaded by suspected Abu Sayyaf members in Patikul, Sulu.

The body of Gabriel “Bong” Canizares, principal of the Kanague Elementary School, was found in an undisclosed area in Patikul.

Sulu authorities said intelligence information and tips from several civilians helped in the recovery of the body.

Patikul Police Chief Inspector Francisco Panisan and other officials brought the body to the Chinese Cemetery in Sulu where the principal’s severed head was buried last Thursday.

On Monday morning, police recovered Canizares’ head beside a gasoline station in downtown Jolo.
