DOH probes typhoid outbreak in Quezon

The Department of Health on Monday said it is investigating a possible typhoid outbreak in Quezon province after more than 150 typhoid cases were reported in two Quezon towns.
In an interview, Dr. Eric Tayag of the DOH National Epidemiology Center said health authorities have already started coordinating with local authorities in Infanta and Real, Quezon.
"This is most probably an outbreak. For now, our advice is that residents should boil their water to prevent the spread of the water-borne disease," Tayag told ABS-CBN's morning show "Umagang Kay Ganda."
Initial reports gathered by ABS-CBN Regional Network Group said at least 45 typhoid patients have sought treatment at Claro M. Recto Hospital in Infanta, Quezon while another 100 were recorded at Ascarraga Private Clinic in Real.
