Two ‘kotong’ cops arrested in Calamba City

Two “kotong” cops were arrested during an operation performed by Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) in Calabarzon headed by Superintendent Romano Cardinio, Sunday evening.
The complaint was filed by Mrs. Vida Tanhueco, a businesswoman engaged in coco lumber business. She accused the policemen of performing the alleged mulcting activity while transporting her commodities plying the route along Barangay Real in Calamba City.
Arrested while in the act of receiving P500 in marked-money, were Police Officer 2 Neil Llanes, 52, and Police Officer 2 Nestor Atienza, 42. The two are crew members of the mobile patrol unit in the area.
The arrested policemen together with the recovered evidence were brought to the CIDG Calabarzon headquarters at Camp Vicente Lim, Calamba City, while charges for robbery and extortion were being readied for filing in court.
