ZAMBOANGA CITY- The chief executive of Zamboanga City said Wednesday that the Supreme Court (SC) is set to release its final decision on the unconstitutionality of the foiled Memorandum of Agreement on Ancestral Domain (MOA-AD) on Friday.
Zamboanga City Mayor Celso Lobregat said this is a victory for petitioners who questioned on August 2008 the legality of the contents of the Bangsamoro Juridical Entity deal between the Philippine government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front.
Prof. Octavio Dinampo, Mindanao People’s Caucus chairman and who was part in the beginning of the drafting of the agreement, expressed earlier his dismay in the result of the 10-year old peace talks between the MILF and the government.
Dinampo said Wednesday the SC’s decision would no longer matter since the national government has been true to its promise - that of a renewed consultation among the grass roots in reviving negotiations between the MILF and the government.
An indication of this he said, is the on-going Bishops Ulama Conference in Jolo, Sulu.
Mindanao People’s Caucus is also going to help in the information campaign and grassroots consultation to produce a recommendation on how to go about renewed peace negotiations at present.
Dinampo also chairs the Bantay Ceasefire Committee, a monitoring arm of the Mindanao People's Caucus and a society of cause oriented group in the South.
The high court had earlier declared the aborted MOA-AD as unconstitutional, Various groups have however filed a motion fro reconsideration.
