(UPDATE) Abu leader slain in Basilan clash
MANILA - Troops have killed an Abu Sayyaf leader allegedly involved in cases of kidnapping and bomb attacks in Basilan and Zamboanga provinces, the military said Friday.
Maj. Gen. Benjamin Dolorfino, commander of the Armed Forces' Western Mindanao Command, said troopers killed Abdullah Ajijul alias Abu Termijie during a special intelligence operation in Sitio Baquisong, Barangay Cambug, Al-Barka town on Wednesday.
Dolorfino said Ajijul has warrants of arrest for kidnapping and bombing incidents in Basilan and Zamboanga.
He said the bandit leader was involved in bomb attacks in Basilan and in the kidnapping of three teachers in Landang Gua island on Zamboanga last January.
